Paul Finch

Designer, tinkerer, and general busybody

I know it's what everyone says, but I'm never sure how to write about myself.
On the one hand, I actually like myself (and my work) quite a lot,
on the other hand, I don't want to come off sounding like my ego is threatening to destroy Tokyo.
Regardless, despite what most people would tell me to say here, I'm not exactly super interested in being hired directly. I'm pretty much laser focused on school right now.

I know, it's such a shame. You'll miss out on my sparkling wit and caveman-level coding skills.

Professional Work

"Professional work" is kind of a misnomer for me, since I'm primarily a grad student.
My work tends to be kind of all over the place and I'm a little swamped right this second so this haphazard javascript gallery will have to do for now.

Research and Experiments

I know this looks pitifully empty, but I have a ton of extensively documented grad work I'm about to be drowning in.
It made sense to prep this section, as that's kind of the point of this page.

I'll put some of my more experimental work up here as soon as I stop being dead from the final sprint of my BFA, namely my experiments with augmented reality volumetric video and the painstakingly tedious trading card pack that I have been giving out as my portfolio.

Until then, here are some stupid things I made. Both of them hate your phone. Enjoy.

Ridiculous Internet Sketchpad

A weird browser based drawing application with a (purposefully) bad user interface.
The undo feature is super wonky on mobile until I can get a better handle on how touch events fire in Javascript. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Multimedia Collage of Dogs I Found on the Internet

An interactive audiovisual collage I made featuring images of dogs I found.
Due to how Javascript works you won't get any sound until you click the screen itself.
It's also about as mobile unfriendly as you can get without being actual malware.
I promise it's not malware.
I'll probably fix both of these issues someday, but updating my stupid weblets is pretty low on my list of priorities and I just put them here to distract you anyway.

Guides/Rambles/Misc

I have a couple projects people asked me to write how-tos on,
another thing I will whip up during the summer (spoiler: I didn't do this.)

This is also where I'll stash any articles I decide to write, so no one has to see them except the people I forcibly send links to.
